5 Artistes We Really Need Their Albums This Year

Wizkid

Like us, anybody seeing Wizkid’s name on this list will probably give a slow sigh at the thought of just how many times the singer has raised our hopes only to mercilessly dash them in the same breath. From a proposed late 2015 album release to his promised visual EP initially primed for a January 2015 drop, the Starboy has promised fans everything he has been yet to deliver in the same breath. Though we slightly understand his hesitation due to a growing international appeal for his sound, we still need a marked date on the calendar for when the album will drop.

Davido

Flashback Friday: 5 unaddressed issues we still have with Davido’s break out hit ‘Back When’

Davido has been hinting an album release since last year. An understandable move, considering his 2012 debut album has neither been updated with a sequel nor complimented with an addendum EP to wet the ground until the promised album drops. Fans would however, be pleased to know that part of the hold on Davido’s album may be due to his glossy new contract with Sony. Major label signings mean Davido will be placed on the same promotional and marketing calendar as relatively more successful label mates, Taylor Swift and Rihanna amongst others. We don’t know where that places Davido, but the wait for his album may just be longer than we all presumed.

M.I

During M.I’s promotional campaign for his Illegal Music 3 mixtape, the rapper revealed another collective to be titled Young Denzel. This was to be released a month after Illegal Music 3 hit the internet for free. However, over three months have passed since Illegal Music 3 dropped and there has still been no word on the release of Young Denzel.

Eva Alordiah

Between a failed attempt at rallying support via a threatened early retirement from music and a shoddy Because You Have Been Waiting mixtape that sailed out of the airwaves before even getting any major attention, we’re no longer sure about what to make of Eva Alordiah’s artistry. The rapper’s greatest sin till date was a promised 1960 debut album whose release date has been pushed back so many times, we’re starting to doubt any form of release ever.

Reekado Banks

Mavin starlet Reekado Banks has been one of the best acts to watch since he featured on a star-studded Mavin all-stars Dorrobucci and still managed to make an impact on the overall song. He has since turned out a great investment for Don Jazzy, holding some of the most unlikely hits over the last year and bagging the Headies’ highly coveted Next Rated awards in the same vein. Earlier last month, Don Jazzy tweeted “Reekado Banks album loading….. 2016”, hinting a release for Reeky’s debut album may happen soon. However nobody in the media or insider in the Mavin family has any more updates on the progress with the album or when it may be released. We’re not concluding that this is merely another ground watering technique, but until we get a definite date, we won’t be getting our hopes up.
